Overpopulation
Thelargenumberofourpopulationhasbecomeoneofthemostseriousproblemsofoursociety.AccordingtoarecentsurveyoftheNationalBureauofStatistics,therearemorethan1.3billionpeopleinourcountry,whichaccountforabout1/5ofallthepeopleintheworld.Thesamesurveyalsopredictsthatourpopulationwillgrowquicklyintheyearstocome.
Overpopulationhasbroughtaboutaseriesofnegativeeffectstooureconomicdevelopmentandsocialsecurity.Inthefirstplace,toomanypeopleimposeaheavyburdenonourenvironment.Asaresult,wesufferfromashortageoffreshwaterandnaturalresources.Inthesecondplace,asthesupplyoflaborgreatlyexceedsthedemandofthesociety,manypeoplebecomeemployed.Thisisasourceofsocialunrest.Lastbutnotleast,wehavetomanufactureallkindsofproductstomeettheneedsofthepeople,whichcausesenvironmentpollutiontoourlakesandland.
Seriousthoughtheproblemseems,wehavetotakesomemeasurestotackleit.Ontheonehand,thegovernmentshouldcarryoutmorestrictlythepolicyoffamilyplanning,thusreducingthetotalnumberofpopulation.Ontheotherhand,allthepeopleshouldrealizetheharmsofoverpopulation.Withtheconcertedeffortsofallthepartiesconcerned,we’resuretosolvetheprobleminthefuture.(233words)
